Monthly Makeup Subscriptions

Monthly Makeup Subscriptions

About three months ago I tried a monthly mail order subscription called the Ipsy Glam Bag.  Ipsy is a personalized selection of 5 makeup samples selected by your preferences when you first sign up.  It’s only $10 a month with free shipping and your 5 makeup samples come in a cute travel bag every month. When signing up you go through a series of questions to personalize your samples:Ipsy subscription

  • What is your skin tone?
  • What color are your eyes?
  • What is your hair color?
  • How comfortable are you with makeup? Not very comfortable, Somewhat comfortable, Very comfortable.
  • Which of these beauty brands do you love (or would love to try)? (Lists several different options).
  • Which of these types of makeup products do you love the most? (ex. Eye shadow, lipstick, mascara, etc..).
  • Which of these types of skincare, hair care, and nail care products do you love the most? (ex. Cleansers, moisturizers, acne treatment, etc…).
  • What shades would you prefer if you received these products? (eyeshadow, lips, eyeliner, nail polish, blush).
  • What types of fragrance do you prefer? (list to choose from).
  • Where do you usually shop for beauty products?
  • How would you define your skin concerns? (ex. Redness, wrinkles, oil, etc…).
  • How would you describe your hair?

Ipsy is very specific with their questions.  Out of the 15 products I’ve received so far, I’ve only passed 2 of the products onto my daughter. Some of the products are actually full size, while others are small samples.

Last month I received a face serum, product name No. 7.  I really liked that it made my skin look smooth and soft.  When I started to run low, I went to the store and bought myself a full size tube.  In addition to purchasing the face serum, I also purchased a liquid cover up from the same brand and it’s my favorite yet!no. 7 foundation  It goes on light, covers very well, and I can’t tell I’m even wearing any makeup.

Try it today (Click on the picture).  You will discover your new favorite foundation.

Another affordable online mail order is the Walmart Beauty Box.  I think this will be the next mail order subscription I will try. This mail order is a flat rate of $5, but you get one box every season.  To sign up, you will go through the same process as Ipsy, by answering a series of questions about your skin color, hair color, skin type, etc…  You will get the top beauty products sold by Walmart. It’s very affordable and with it being once every 4 months, it will be quite a surprise when it comes in the mail.

perfume scentsAnother monthly mail order is Scentbird.  Scentbird is a fragrance subscription that sends you one fragrance a month; out of the 450+ different fragrances they offer; their subscription is only $14.95 a month.  What better way to test fragrances to see if you even like a certain scent before purchasing an expensive bottle. This is ideal for someone who likes perfume.

I look forward to getting my ipsy package in the mail each month. Especially when I least expect it. These monthly makeup subscriptions may also be a great gift for a family member that is really hard to buy for.

There’s even a monthly subscription for men: BirchboxMan.  It’s $10 a month for 5 samples of grooming samples for men.  If the guy in your life tries samples and ends up liking a sample or two, then you have a gift idea to buy him in a full size for a holiday, anniversary, or birthday.
